Moments ago, West Virginia head coach Neal Brown announced to the media that backup quarterback Jack Allison has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal along with WR Ricky Johns.

"Jack has made the decision to enter the transfer portal. He graduates in December so this was a decision that he came to me with and I love Jack, I like him. He's been a great teammate here. He wants to go play and I support that," Brown said. He also talked about who will fill in the role as the backup quarterback, "Jarret Doege and Trey Lowe III, I think they'll both have an opportunity to see time in this game. We're going to let them compete it out for the backup spot."

Allison transferred to West Virginia from Miami (FL) and was expected to be Will Grier's successor, but struggled in last year's bowl game vs Syracuse and with a crowded quarterback room, he decided it was best to hit the portal once again.

Receiver Ricky Johns was used sparingly on offense and made most of his playing time on special teams.
