Michael Vick Gives a Shoutout to WVU Commit Zyir Daniel

One of the best college QBs of all time praises the future Mountaineer defensive lineman.

It's not all that often that you see much love shown between those with ties to West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

But for a second, one of the most electrifying quarterbacks in college football history, Michael Vick, put his hatred for WVU to the side and paid the ultimate respect to defensive lineman Zyir Daniel, who is walking on to the Mountaineer football program.

So, how did this happen? What's the connection? Roc Carmichael - one of Daniel's biggest mentors. He played in the league for a handful of years after being drafted out of Virginia Tech in 2011. Carmichael and Vick were together with the Eagles in 2014 and have kept a relationship ever since.

Daniel was overlooked as a high school prospect. He had interest from several FBS and FCS programs and received PWO offers from Penn State and Pitt, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity at West Virginia. It was a perfect fit both on and off the field.

"They have a proud, rich history and to be part of it is truly amazing. I have made several visits before and had great experiences each time. The game day atmosphere is unreal! I also camped here and was able be see how great the coaches were. I like the school’s educational aspect and how they set you up for success after football.

"The culture, coaching staff, 5th Quarter Program and closeness to home were just as big. I accomplished a lot in going in my fifth year playing football, so I am willing to bet on myself. I am looking forward competing hard and getting better every day."

Daniel is enrolling at WVU today.
