Quick Hits: Promising Young LB, Injury Update, Right Guard Battle + More

In this story:
If Brandon Yates/Ja'Quay Hubbard split time at right tackle
"It's still to be determined. It depends on how big a gap there is there. I think both of them will play, but I don't know if it will be a 50/50 deal."
Second string of the offensive line
"Johnny Williams is going to be a player. He's going to be a true freshman. We'd love to redshirt him. But that's a hit. He can play. We're excited about him. Nick Malone continues to progress. He's going to be in the mix and we'll rotate him in and out. Bryce Biggs is coming on. Bryce has had a really nice fall camp so far. Sully Weidman, we need him to make a step. Didn't have a great day today. He's a guy that we're trying to apply some pressure to. He and Mo Hamilton...it's time. They're redshirt freshman and it's time for those guys to make a step. Landen Livingston has been playing center and has done a nice job. Really grown. He's not ready yet, but he's getting better."
Progression of LB Trey Lathan
Trey Lathan had a great day today. Made a big step on Saturday too. He's athletic. That's what we're looking for. You got to remember, he played receiver in high school. Played a little bit of defense his senior year. But from a size, speed, length [standpoint], he's those things. He needs repetitions. I thought he had a really nice day Saturday. And I thought he may have had the best day of anybody out there today. He had a pick six in a team drill. Had a really nice stop on a run play in a fourth down period we did. Pleased with his progress and he can do it. We just got to get him ready to go fast."
How many receivers could play this season
"I think if you ask me next Monday, I'll have a better answer for you. We're trying to get some guys ready, so it'd be premature for me to tell you who I think's ready because there's a group that is ready and a group that I'm trying to get ready."
Injury update
"Asani [Redwood] is making positive gains. He is a ahead of schedule. Game one, I'm not sure. I don't want to say no yet. But he's such a young player, a redshirt freshman, we're not going to play him until he's ready. Sean Martin, he should practice some this week and I'm not really concerned about him going into game one. [Davis Mallinger] just has to get stronger. That's the thing right now. It's his strength in the leg he got repaired. The knee is good, he's just got to get his leg stronger."
