Score Predictions for West Virginia at Oklahoma

In this story:
The West Virginia Mountaineers (6-3, 4-2) meet the Oklahoma Sooners (7-2, 4-2) at Memorial Stadium in Norman, OK, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. EST.

Am I really going with the double-digit underdog Mountaineers this week? You better believe it. I know it sounds crazy, but look, Oklahoma is off the heels of two disappointing losses and are now no longer in the mix for the College Football Playoff. They lost a bunch of one score games a year ago and now they've lost in that very fashion two weeks in a row. I can see doubt beginning to creep into their mind and let's be honest, all of the pressure is on the Sooners in this game.
For West Virginia, they're playing well offensively and with their ability to run the football and control the clock, they should be able to dictate the flow of this game. It doesn't have to be perfect but another well-rounded performance in all three phases can get the job done in Norman.
I believe the only year I picked West Virginia over Oklahoma was Will Grier's senior year in 2018, so that should tell you a lot about my feelings of this game.
Christopher Hall: West Virginia 31, Oklahoma 30
Oklahoma has suffered consecutive losses, including a dramatic loss last week to instate rival Oklahoma State, knocking the Sooners out of the College Football Playoff. Both losses are on the road.
Injuries have plagued the Sooners since their win over Texas. Receiver Andrel Anthony led the team in receptions and yards heading into the Red River Rivalry but left the game with a season-ending injury, and in the loss to Kansas two weeks ago, the team's leading tackler, linebacker Danny Stutsman missed the game against Oklahoma State. He's listed to day-to-day.
The Sooners eked out a home win over UCF following the Texas game before losing two straight.
The last two matchups against the Sooners have been even with both programs winning by a field goal in the previous two meetings.
It's intriguing the Mountaineers are nearly two touchdown underdogs going into the game, but they have thrived playing in that role, and West Virginia has played better football as of late than the Sooners.
I had West Virginia losing this game heading into the season, and it may hold true, but I like the confidence in this Mountaineer squad, and nothing has seemed to rattle this team. I'm reluctant to pick WVU, however, this team is the healthiest it's been since coming out of the TCU win. I'm going to take the Mountaineers in a nailbiter, 31-30.
