Sports Illustrated Publisher Preseason Big 12 Standings

The Sports Illustrated Big 12 Conference preseason poll has a familiar face at the top of the list

It comes to no surprise that the Oklahoma Sooners are once again the prohibited favorite to win the Big 12 Conference in 2020. Under the leadership on Lincoln Riley, the Sooners have become a dominant force in the league and have put their name in the College Football Playoff twice and oh yeah, have had back-to-back Heisman winners and first overall picks in the draft.

This week, the Sports Illustrated Big 12 publishers voted on the league's order of finish for the upcoming season. 

1. Oklahoma - 60

2. Oklahoma State - 53

3. Texas - 45

4. Iowa State - 38

5. TCU - 35

6. West Virginia - 28

7. Baylor - 27

8. Kansas State - 23

9. Texas Tech - 15

10. Kansas - 6

Oklahoma was the unanimous number one vote, claiming the maximum amount of points. Oklahoma State sits closely behind in second and the Texas Longhorns are on the outside looking in at No. 3. Baylor will have to cope with the loss of head coach Matt Rhule and defensive coordinator Phil Snow to the NFL as well as several of their top playmakers. TCU and West Virginia both finished with a 5-7 record in 2019 and are looking to surge back up the standings in 2020.

Next week the Sports Illustrated Big 12 publishers will be releasing the All-Big 12 team on both sides of the ball. The following week the network will reveal the Big 12 preseason awards.
