"I was ecstatic when I got the offer," Massey told Mountaineers Now. "I feel like I’m making progress towards my ultimate goal. It gave me reassurance my work is paying off knowing that a prestigious Power 5 school like WVU believes in me."
Wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall was the lead recruiter for Massey and made him feel at home during his official visit.
"I love him. Great coach. Coach Brown as well, we have all had a great conversation about the role I’ll be playing here and the great success I’ll have. It’s been a very good trip.
"I like the small-town atmosphere. I love the strength and conditioning staff and I feel like coach Mike [Joseph] will take my physical development to the next level. The coaching staff feels like family."
The 6'4", 230-pound receiver began his career at Bowling Green where he caught just ten passes in three seasons. The move down to Division II has paid off as he's put himself back on the radar with a couple of solid seasons.
In two years at Angelo State, Massey reeled in 81 receptions for 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns. This past season, Massey led the Rams in receptions (52), receiving yards (684), and touchdowns (4).
Massey chose West Virginia over the likes of Colorado, Central Michigan, Jacksonville State, Long Island, Mississippi State, Northern Colorado, Northern Illinois, Robert Morris, and Texas A&M Commerce.
He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
