How to Transfer Your CoD Points From MW2 to MW3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming soon and fans of the series are anxiously awaiting the drop. But there are still some questions gamers have, including if they can keep their CoD Points from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone.

CoD Points, known as CP, are the in-game currency that players use to buy cosmetics and battle passes. It costs real-world moolah to get CoD Points so it’s no surprise that many are wondering if they will be able to keep their CoD Points when they transfer to MW3.

Here’s what you need to know.

Will MW2 Currency Transfer to MW3?

The short answer is yes, your CoD Points will transfer from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3.

If you have CP in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, it will be transferred to Modern Warfare 3 once you switch over. It’s not instant, however.

How to Transfer Your CP to Modern Warfare 3

If you want to transfer your CP to MW3, you must do the following:

  • You must use the same account in MW3 that you used in MW2
  • Even if you have multiple accounts linked to Activision, the CP can’t be transferred between them
  • You must be on the same platform, meaning you must be playing MW3 on the same console you played MW2 on
  • The transfer is possible between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, however, and Xbox One and Xbox S | X, as well as between Battle.net and Steam

What Can Be Transferred Between Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3

Aside from CoD Points, you can transfer many other things if you use the same account and system. You will be able to transfer your operators, weapons, and other purchased and downloaded bundles. Just keep in mind they would have had to be purchased before August 16, 2023.

If you bought something after August 16, you must make sure that it’s labeled as usable in both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3. Be on the lookout for this label if you plan on downloading anything leading up to the release of MW3 on November 10, 2023.
