Previous teasers had VALORANT players theorizing that new agent Deadlock would be a threat to Sova and recent leaks have shown this to be accurate. Here is what we’ve learned about Deadlock and her abilities.

Who is Deadlock in VALORANT?

Deadlock is Agent 23 in VALORANT, set to join the ever-growing roster when Episode 7 Act 1 drops on June 28.

Deadlock is a female Sentinel agent from Norway that thrives in the cold wilderness thanks to her traps and hunting prowess. The most recent teaser showed her tackling a Radiante-infused bear but Deadlock uses the same techniques against enemy agents thanks to her intelligent technology and intense determination.

What Are Deadlock’s Abilities?

The fast-paced gameplay reveal gave fans a better look at what to expect when Deadlock drops in a few days. Here are Deadlock’s abilities:

Barrier Mesh (E)

Equip a Barrier Mesh disc that can be thrown forward. When it lands, the Barrier Mesh will create a barrier from where you stand to wherever you tossed it. While enemies can still shoot through the barrier, they won’t be able to cross it until they destroy its traps, slowing them down.

Sonic Sensor (Q)

This sensor monitors an area for enemies that make any noise within the radius where it was deployed. The area is concussed if it detects footsteps, weapons firing, or any other significant noise.

GravNet (C)

You equip this grenade by firing to throw it. If you press your alt-fire, you can lob the grenade underhand. Either way, the GravNet will detonate when it lands, forcing enemies caught within to crouch and move slowly. This is yet another way to leave enemy agents vulnerable.

Annihilation (X)

Equip a Nanowire Accelerator and then fire to unleash a pulse of nanowires that capture the first enemy it comes into contact with. Enemies caught in its grasp are pulled along a nanowire path, ultimately ending with their elimination if they aren’t freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible, but it will create an immense distraction.

Deadlock is equipped to really disrupt enemies and keep them on their toes. Her powerful kit means she will most likely be a part of the current meta, lowering the pick rate of other sentinels like Sova and Cypher.
