George W. Bush gave Derek Jeter a gift tonight

Derek Jeter's latest gift on his Major League Baseball farewell tour was a visit from former U.S. President George W. Bush. 

On Wednesday, prior to the Rangers' game against the Yankees, Bush gave Jeter a framed vintage photo of the two with a note from Bush that read, "Congratulations on a great career." 

Bush and Jeter's most notable interaction at a baseball game came during the 2001 World Series, when then-President Bush threw out the first pitch during Game 3 in New York. The game took place a month and a half after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. 

Jeter jokingly told the president prior to the pitch that New York fans would boo him if he bounced the ball over the plate. Even with a bulletproof vest under his jacket, Bush famously threw a strike. 

We know Barack Obama might be a bit busier than Bush these days, but if the Chicago White Sox truly wanted to show their appreciation for Jeter, they would have produced the current president as a parting gift. Way to disrespect The Captain, Chicago.
