The family of Nuggets rookie Jusuf Nurkic made its first trip to America recently to watch his progress in the NBA, and it quickly became apparent from where the 6-foot-11 center gets his size.

According to Nurkic.com, the "Official Jusuf Nurkic Fan Base," Nurkic's father, Hariz, is seven feet tall and weighs around 400 pounds. While those measurements are tough to verify, cameras captured Hariz at the Nuggets game against the Mavericks on Wednesday and he looked pretty sizeable.

Nurkic.com also reports that Jusuf first started training to be a basketball player after an agent read a story about his father fighting 14 men at once while working as a police officer in their native Bosnia and Herzegovina, and asked the man if he had any sons.

While that story sounds like a tall tale, it is simply too great to ignore.
