Chris Hogan Addresses Patrick Mahomes Dealing With Dropped Passes, “He Never Once Complained”

Chris Hogan speaks about the similarities between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady's leadership styles.

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a third Super Bowl title in five years, but many people counted them out in the regular season. A big reason behind that was due to a lot of drops by receivers.

According to BetMGM, the Chiefs led the league with 44 dropped passes in 2023. Instead of Mahomes placing the blame on his receivers, he often took the blame himself or stated it was a negative that the team collectively needed to correct.

Chris Hogan discussed this on The Patriots Report, and how Mahomes is similar to Tom Brady in taking the blame for things that aren't exactly his fault.

"Yeah. I mean, he's maturing just as a teammate. I mean, people were coming after their receivers this year, man. I think they led the league in drops this year. You did not hear him once, one time, complain about his his receivers dropping the ball. He put the ownership on himself. He put the ownership on his teammates. 'You know, just we need to get better. We need to practice more.' That's Tom."

Hogan points out a lot of similarities between Brady and Mahomes, and the world has already seen that as well. Mahomes just won his third ring, and he did so by rallying his team.

Dropped passes are never great, but it's what the starting QB does to remedy those passes and pull their team together that separates champions from everyone else.

Mahomes could have easily let the passes lead to him blaming teammates, but he chose to instead talk about it and bring the team together to get better. The result of that was a third Super Bowl title in the last five years.
