Will The Packers Bring Back David Bakhtiari?
Since being selected with the No. 109 pick in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft out of Colorado, all five-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle David Bakhtiari has ever known has been the Green Bay Packers.
After missing all but one game in 2023 due to a knee surgery, Bakhtiari could be looking to rejoin his former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.
In the latest edition of Bleav's Block Party with Mike Wahle, the former Green Bay guard (who made his lone Pro Bowl appearance during his first season away from the club, with the Carolina Panthers) weighs in on the fate of Bakhtiari.
"I think the first question is, does he want to be here?" Wahle opines. "Does he want to go great golf carts with Aaron Rodgers in New York? Because they've got a great defense. You could argue that they're a healthy Aaron Rodgers and an offensive line away from being a really, really big time Super Bowl contenders in that division. I know that Buffalo obviously is having success there now. So you look at the Jets they've got a real shot there to fight for that division with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. And what are they missing? They're missing they're missing a really quality left tackle there."
"So he might want to do that," Wahles continues. "People don't understand what Bakhtiari means to that offense because Jordan Love didn't get sacked. The difference that makes on your offense cannot be measured in dollars and cents because it just opens up another facet of your playbook."
