Anthony Edwards fined $40k for ref comments

Edwards told Bally Sports North after the game Monday "the refs did not give us no calls tonight"

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been fined $40,000 for his comments criticizing refs after the team's 107-101 win Monday night in Oklahoma City.

Edwards was critical after referees didn't award him for what he thought was a foul when Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander grabbed and held onto his arm mid-dunk late in Monday's game. The Last Two Minute report from the league ruled in favor of the refs, saying the "contact during the shot near the rim is marginal."

In his postgame comments to Bally Sports North, Edwards said, "Imma take the fine because the refs did not give us no calls tonight."

Edwards was also caught by on-court cameras saying "cheating a** refs" after the final buzzer.

Wolves head coach Chris Finch said he had a word with Edwards postgame about his comments and told KFXN-FM 100.3 Tuesday, "It's early in Anthony's career, we're just encouraging him to have a healthy and productive relationship with the referees."
