Report: Vikings to re-sign linebacker Anthony Barr after Hicks injury

Barr spent eight seasons in Minnesota after being a first round pick in 2014

With Jordan Hicks out for at least one game after suffering a leg injury that needed an emergency procedure Sunday, the Vikings are reportedly set to bring back former linebacker Anthony Barr, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Barr, 31, was a first-round pick by the Vikings in 2014 and spent eight seasons as a key piece in Mike Zimmer's defenses. In his eight season Barr accumulated 495 tackles, 17.5 sacks, five interceptions and eight forced fumbles.

Minnesota parted ways with Barr at the end of the 2021 season. Signing with the Cowboys as a free agent, Barr spent the 2022 season racking up 58 tackles and one sack as a depth piece in one of the better defenses in the league. Barr was not re-signed by Dallas after the season and has been a free agent since.

Barr re-signing with Minnesota comes on the same day when NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the linebacker visited the Eagles.
