Vegas sets Clemson win totals for 2022 college football season

Last season left a lot to be desired as Clemson missed out on the ACC title and the College Football Playoff for the first time in six straight years.

But the odds makers in Vegas appear to be high on the Tigers' chances this fall, setting the team's over/under win total at 10.5 for the 2022 football season.

Clemson tops the list

That's good for a 4-way tie at the top of the sport, with Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia also coming in a 10.5 wins on the year, according to the books.

Clemson won 10 games a year ago, but also lost three, including two ACC games against Pitt and NC State in addition to the Week 1 loss against Georgia.

That was enough to keep the Tigers out of the conference title game and resigned the team to the Cheez-It Bowl, which it won against Iowa State.

Where Clemson is right now

Offense was a persistent problem, as the team failed to get adequate production from quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei in his first full season as starter.

He passed for nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions while Clemson placed second-worst in the ACC in total offense and mustered just 26.3 points per game, a 17 point drop from 2020.

The good news? Clemson placed No. 1 in the conference in total defense a year ago, allowing 308 yards and 15 points per game, and returns star linemen Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee to anchor the unit.

But there are some tough games on this schedule, including against Wake, Miami, NC State, and a trip to Notre Dame — which beat the No. 1 Tigers with Uiagalelei on the field in 2020 — midseason.
