The college football world was stunned to hear that LSU player Greg Brooks, Jr. was diagnosed with brain cancer, and now head coach Brian Kelly has given us an update.

Brooks was transferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, where he is scheduled to undergo a second procedure in the near future.

"We're just so grateful for the support that everybody throughout this entire country and the football community in college football has embraced this," Kelly told The Paul Finebaum Show.

"Obviously, the thoughts and prayers every day for Greg. He's a strong man and w're hoping that this next surgery allows him to begin the next challenge of battling cancer."

Brooks played the first two games of the football season when it was discovered he had a mass in his head and underwent an emergency surgery on Sept. 15.

Brooks was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called medulloblastoma, the school and his family announced last week.

This kind of cancer starts in the cerebellum, a part of the brain located at the back of the skull. The cerebellum plays a key role in physical coordination, balance, and motor skills.

Since news of his condition became public, the Greg Brooks, Jr. Victory Fund that was established to pay for his medical bills, has raised over $100,000.
