Going forward, the Pac-12 Conference will have a new home — which will be no home at all. The league announced it will move out of its headquarters and switch its operations to a work-from-home arrangement.

The move will save some money for Pac-12 member schools, which will no longer have to pay rent for the league's former location in San Francisco.

The city has some of the highest rents in the country. Reports claimed the Pac-12 paid around $6.9 million for their current location during the 2019 season.

"The Pac-12 is committed to best supporting our employees by providing a work environment that accommodates today's modern world and gives our employees maximum flexibility to live and work where they want, while still fostering collaboration among staff and our valued member institutions," commissioner George Kliavkoff said in a statement.

"We are also committed to ongoing best-in-class production of Pac-12 events. We are excited for what this new remote and flexible work environment can do to support our employees, and for the new ways it will allow us to reinvest in our member universities so that they can best support student-athletes."

The decision to move out of its office was unanimously approved by the Pac-12 Board of Directors. The conference will have regular meetings on Pac-12 campuses to preserve the in-person dynamic for important occasions while also establishing a key direct presence at its member schools.
