Los Angeles Dodgers' Star Does Something Nearly Never Done in Last 100 Years of Team History

Though the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres on Thursday morning in the closeout game of the Seoul Series, Mookie Betts did his part to put himself right

Against the backdrop of the humongous Shohei Ohtani/Ippei Mizuhara story, the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the San Diego Padres, 15-11, in a slugfest on Thursday morning to close out the two-game Seoul Series.

In that loss, Dodgers' star Mookie Betts certainly did his part, going 4-for-6 with a home run and six RBI.

With that performance, he did something that nearly no Dodgers' player in the last 100 years of team history has done.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com on social media:

Mookie Betts’ 6 RBI are tied for the 2nd-most by a Dodgers SS in a game [rbi official since 1920], behind only:

7/14/30 Glenn Wright: 7

tied w:

6/20/17 Corey Seager

9/9/55 Don Zimmer

5/9/48 Pee Wee Reese

9/16/36 Lonny Frey

Betts, who has won multiple Gold Gloves in the outfield before, has shifted back into the infield in recent years, playing a lot of second base for the Dodgers in 2023 and taking over shortstop this year.

One of the best all-around athletes in baseball, Betts is already a seven-time All-Star, a six-time Gold Glover, a batting champion, an MVP and a six-time Silver Slugger. He also helped the Boston Red Sox win the World Series in 2018 and the Dodgers in 2020.

Lifetime, he's a .295 hitter with 253 homers and 172 stolen bases.

He pairs with Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy to make one of the best lineups in baseball.

At 1-1, Los Angeles returns home for traditional Opening Day on March 28 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
