WWE News: Top WWE Superstar Hints at Retirement in Near Future

Are we nearing the end of a stellar WWE career?

One future WWE Hall of Famer may be closing the door on a legendary in-ring career soon.

Many pro wrestlers who have made a name for themselves in the industry stay in the ring for as long as they can. Thankfully, we've seen some successful results with the likes of 55-year-old Japanese legend Minoru Suzuki, and the recently retired 64-year-old Hall of Famer Sting. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage remain stellar performers at 50, and the 52-year-old R-Truth continues to entertain fans.

In the case of one megastar, however, we may be approaching the end of a world-class career.

WWE legend John Cena recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote the Ricky Stanicky film, which he co-stars in. During the show, Cena, who will turn 47 in April, revealed to Clarkson that he may be pretty close to ending his wrestling career.

"50 is my absolute, like, line in the sand," Cena said. "I would like to try to do it before that, but at 50 I'm just gonna tweet, 'Peace out, see ya.' That's it, I'm good."

Cena certainly has nothing left to prove, and his stock has grown even more since Hollywood called. There is at least one major story to tell with John Cena in WWE, and that's a possible historic 17th world title reign to surpass Ric Flair.

Fans may recall when Cena became quite emotional during his 20th anniversary with WWE for a Monday Night Raw appearance in 2022. Perhaps he knew at the time that he would soon be closing the door on his in-ring career.

Cena's last WWE match took place at the Crown Jewel PLE event back in November 2023. He ended up losing a singles match against Solo Sikoa. During recent media appearances, Cena has hinted at a WrestleMania 40 appearance.
