Tyson Fury's Promoter Insists Oleksandr Usyk Is To Blame For Failed Talks

The blame game continues.

WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury will not be fighting Oleksandr Usyk at the moment, and his promoter is doing some finger-pointing.

In a series of social media exchanges, Fury and Usyk hurled barbs over the terms to make their fight a reality. While Fury demanded that Usyk take a low percentage of the purse, the Ukrainian bruiser publicly accepted the bout. Some believe that Fury had his bluff called, but the "Gypsy King" insists Usyk doesn't truly want to take the fight.

Fury's co-promoter, Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, recently spoke to talkSPORT. During the interview, Warren gave his take on why Fury vs. Usyk hasn't been signed.

"As regarding the situation with Usyk, Tyson a couple of weeks ago just put a very simple message out saying, 'Let's get this fight on, let's do it,'" Warren said. "Terms that were agreed, Tyson doesn't want a rematch clause. In other words, if he loses that's the end of it, but if [Usyk] loses, he'll give him a rematch because obviously he's very confident winning, Tyson. I've been saying for ages, all Usyk is interested in is getting a big payday and fighting for bigger paydays in Saudi Arabia. I don't blame him for that, I understand that, but don't make it that Tyson's the greedy person."

Usyk is now expected to put his WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles on the line against Daniel Dubois in August. As for Fury, it isn't known what he will do next. Soon after claiming he'd fight Demsey McKean, the WBC Heavyweight Champion said he sent Anthony Joshua a draft contract for a fight in September. The bout with AJ will not be taking place and Fury's next opponent is up in the air.
