VIDEO: Canelo Alvarez Defeats Tough John Ryder via Unanimous Decision

The undisputed super middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and John Ryder is history.
Canelo put his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles against Ryder inside Estadio Akron, Guadalajara, Mexico on May 6. This was Canelo's first bout since a September 2022 trilogy fight against Gennady Golovkin. Ryder entered this bout on a four-fight winning streak.
It was clear going into the bout that Canelo would be a massive betting favorite. He came in as a -1600 favorite, with Ryder pegged as a +900 underdog according to multiple sportsbooks.
Early in the fight, Canelo went digging to the body. Ryder backed Canelo against the ropes and was looking to land some shots, but Canelo had good defense.
It didn't take long for blood to start leaking from the nose of Ryder. He remained game, going after Canelo in bursts, but Canelo appeared to be timing him.
As the fight went on, it was clear that Ryder had difficulty breathing out of his nose. Canelo dropped him with a one-two combination in the fifth round.
