BREAKING: Indiana Pacers Player Reportedly Ruled Out For Remainder Of NBA Season

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Bennedict Mathurin has been ruled out for the remainder of the NBA season.

UPDATE: The Indiana Pacers have officially announced that Bennedict Mathurin will miss the remainder of the season.

On Thursday evening, the Indiana Pacers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 113-111.

Bennedict Mathurin did not play in the game, and on Saturday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the former Arizona star will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Mathurin finishes his year with averages of 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range in 59 games.

Via Wojnarowski: "ESPN Sources: Indiana Pacers G Bennedict Mathurin will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Mathurin — the 2024 Rising Stars MVP — averages 14.5 points. He’s expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-2025 season."

Mathurin was the sixth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and is in his second season in the league (all with the Pacers).

His career averages are 15.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 34.4% from the three-point range in 137 regular season games.

The 21-year-old is one of the team's best players.

The Pacers are currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-29 record in 64 games.

They are only 2.5 games behind the New York Knicks for the fourth seed.

Over the last ten games, the Pacers have gone 5-5, and they will visit the Orlando Magic on Sunday evening in Florida.

The Pacers have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous three seasons, but will likely be able to end the drought in 2024.
