BREAKING: Russell Westbrook Makes NBA History On Saturday

Russell Westbrook has moved up on the NBA's all-time assists list.

On Saturday afternoon, the Los Angeles Clippers hosted the New York Knicks in California.

The Clippers won 106-95, and Kawhi Leonard led the way with 38 points in 37 minutes of playing time.  

During the game, Russell Westbrook made NBA history as he moved ahead of Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas on the all-time assists list.

The 2017 MVP came into the day with 9,059 assists, so he was only three away from passing Thomas (9,061).

Westbrook is one of the greatest players of all-time and will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.  

He finished the day against the Knicks with seven points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes. 

The Clippers are the fifth team he's played for in the NBA, as he has also had stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. 

While Westbrook has never won an NBA Championship, he made the NBA Finals in 2012 and has played in an astonishing 111 playoff games. 

His career averages are 22.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.6 steals per contest in 1,081 regular season games.  

With the victory over the Knicks, the Clippers are now 36-33 in 69 games and in the middle of a three-game winning streak.  

They will play their next game on Wednesday night when they host the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles, California.

As for the Knicks, they dropped to 39-30 in 69 games.
