BREAKING: Miami Heat Player Ruled Out For Remainder Of NBA Season

Josh Richardson will miss the remainder of the NBA season.

UPDATE: The Miami Heat announced that Josh Richardson underwent succesful surgery.

Via The Miami Heat: "INJURY UPDATE: Josh Richardson underwent successful right shoulder surgery today, a 90-minute labrum procedure to repair right shoulder instability. 

Richardson will miss the remainder of the season and is expected to make a full recovery."

On Tuesday evening, the Miami Heat defeated the Detroit Pistons by a score of 118-100 at home in Florida.   

Josh Richardson missed his eighth straight game, and it's now been announced that he will be out for the remainder of the season.   

Richardson finishes his year with averages of 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 44.4% from the field and 34.7% from the three-point range in 43 games.  

Via Tim Reynolds of AP Sports: "Josh Richardson will have shoulder surgery tomorrow and is expected to miss the rest of the season."

Richardson was the 40th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Tennessee. 

He had been his second stint with the Heat and has also spent time with the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans over nine seasons.  

His career averages are 11.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest while shooting 42.9% from the field and 36.4% from the three-point range in 546 regular season games. 

The 30-year-old has also appeared in 30 NBA playoff games (nine starts). 

As for the Heat, they are the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-26 record in 61 games. 

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and have gone 8-2 over their last ten games.  

Following their victory over the Pistons, the Heat will play their next game on Thursday evening when they visit Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks in Texas.
