New York Knicks Officially Sign 6-Year NBA Veteran

The New York Knicks have signed a new player.

On Tuesday evening, the New York Knicks will host the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden.

Before the game, the team announced that they had officially signed Shake Milton.

The 27-year-old has played 42 games this season for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons.

He began the year with the Timberwolves and was traded to the Pistons, who waived him after a contract buyout (h/t ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski).

Milton is averaging 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 40.3% from the field and 27.4% from the three-point range.

Via New York Knicks PR: "The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed guard Shake Milton."

Milton will be available for Tuesday's game against the Hawks (h/t SNY's Ian Begley).

Via Begley: "Shake Milton is active tonight, Tom Thibodeau says. Thibodeau says Milton will be ‘situational’ right now as opposed to having a regular spot in NYK rotation."

Milton was the 54th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of SMU and is in his sixth season in the league.

In addition to the Pistons and Timberwolves, he has also spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers.

His career averages are 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point range in 296 regular season games.

He has also appeared in 34 NBA playoff games (four starts).

As for the Knicks, they are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 36-25 record in 61 games.
