Why Is This Former New York Knicks Starter Not In The NBA?

Emmanuel Mudiay last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season.

Emmanuel Mudiay most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he played in two games for the Sacramento Kings.

Last year, he played in the G League for the Iowa Wolves.

Over 26 regular season games, Mudiay averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 46.2% from the field and 31.5% from the three-point range (he also appeared in 14 Showcase Cup games).

This summer, the 27-year-old signed a deal with Cangrejeros de Santurce for the remainder of the 2023 season.

In ten games, he averaged 21.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 30.3% from the three-point range.

Mudiay was initially the seventh pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.

In addition to the Nuggets and Kings, he has also played for the Utah Jazz and New York Knicks.

During the 2018-19 season, he played in 59 games for the Knicks (42 starts) and averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field.

Over six seasons in the NBA, he has career averages of 10.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest while shooting 40.1% from the field and 32.3% from the three-point range in 302 regular season games (he has also appeared in three NBA playoff games with the Jazz).

Since Mudiay is still in the prime of his career (and played well in the G League last year), he could be a good addition to many teams.
