A Trade The Miami Heat And Washington Wizards Must Consider

I believe the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards should swap Jordan Poole and Tyler Herro.

Jordan Poole is in his first season with the Washington Wizards after getting traded (via the Golden State Warriors) over the offseason.

However, Poole has struggled at the start of the season, averaging 15.5 points per contest while shooting 39.2% from the field and 27.8% from the three-point range.

The Wizards are also 2-10 in their first 12 games and in the middle of a five-game losing streak.

I believe the Miami Heat should consider trading Tyler Herro for Poole.

Why?

Poole is in the first year of a $128 million contract, and the Wizards look like they will be among the five worst teams in the NBA.

Meanwhile, the Heat are coming off a year where they made the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons and have gone 8-5 in their first 13 games.

That said, they rank 25th in scoring (109.6 PPG), so they will need to evaluate how they can improve their offense.

Herro got off to an excellent start to the year, averaging 22.9 points per contest while shooting 44.7% from the field and 41.0% from the three-point range.

However, he has been injured, and the Heat have gone 4-1 in the five games they have played without him.

In addition, they made the NBA Finals (without Herro) last season.

There is no question that the Heat will still need Herro's scoring numbers, but I believe that Poole could be an intriguing addition to replace Herro.

Poole helped the Warriors win the 2022 NBA Championship and averaged 17.0 points per contest while shooting 50.8% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range during that playoff run (he came off the bench in 17 out of 22 games).

Therefore, he has proven that he can be a reliable bench scorer for a championship team and could be the missing piece for the Heat to win their first title since 2013.

Herro is in the first year of a $120 million contract, so his salary is almost identical and would make a trade seamless.

The Wizards would benefit by getting a more valuable player, while the Heat could be getting a better fit for their team.
