Thanks to the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, there were plenty of fire sneaker releases in February. However, fans continuously held out hope for a surprise drop from Kobe Bryant's signature line.

On January 31, Vanessa Bryant shared images of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro in a new 'Black History Month' colorway. The unreleased shoes quickly appeared on the feet of Nike-sponsored players throughout the league.

Unfortunately, as time passed, it became apparent that shoes were yet another player-exclusive colorway that would never enjoy a general release. There are five days left in February and zero indicators that the shoes will hit shelves.

It's another insult added to injury for loyal fans of the Los Angeles Lakers legend. Since Bryant's tragic passing, his iconic basketball shoes have become unobtainable for the average fan. The silver lining is there are several scheduled releases on the way this year.

The Nike Kobe 6 Protro 'BHM' will never release, and that is another gut punch for Kobe fans. However, fans should be ready for the release of a white and black Nike Kobe 4 Protro colorway which will be released on the late Gigi Bryant's birthday, May 1, 2023.

Additionally, Nike is not finished with the Nike Kobe 6 Protro, as the 'Reverse Grinch' colorway is scheduled to release around the 2023 holidays. Even better, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro is finally launching this upcoming fall.

Fans and athletes hoping to obtain a pair of Bryant's legendary basketball shoes have had their patience tested over the past few years. Luckily, there is reason for optimism around the future of the Nike Kobe line.
