The entire basketball world and sneaker community were saddened by the news of Ja Morant sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury this week. After missing 25 games due to suspension, we were all ready to see the Memphis Grizzlies point guard showing off his skills and sneakers on the court.

While Morant will once again miss significant time, his signature sneaker line continues to move forward. On Monday, the LSU Tigers men's basketball team was surprised with a shipment from Morant and Nike. The entire team received pairs of the Nike Ja 1 in a purple and gold player-exclusive colorway.

LSU head coach Matt McMahon has maintained a close friendship with Morant since their time together at Murray State, so it is only fitting that his new team receive Morant's signature sneakers. Check out the Instagram post below for a detailed look at the hoop shoes.

There has not been a bad colorway of Morant's first signature sneaker, and the LSU-inspired colorway might be one of the best yet. It is also worth mentioning that LSU is quickly becoming one of the best NCAA basketball programs when it comes to sneakers thanks to its relationship with Nike and designation as a "Mamba Program."

It has been over a year since Morant debuted the Nike Ja 1 on Christmas Day 2022, and we are eager to see what is next for his signature sneaker line. Unfortunately, his injury could impact the release date of his sophomore hoop shoe. The silver lining is athletes and fans can purchase Morant's sneakers at a discount in select styles on the Nike website

With the college basketball season in full swing, it is safe to expect LSU and other Nike-sponsored schools to bring the heat from now until April. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news from the sports world.
