There are always plenty of surprises in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. One upset victory can completely swing experts' predictions for a series. Additionally, fans can always count on players to put their best foot forward when it comes to their sneakers.

On Wednesday, April 19, there were only three games. However, sneakerheads were inundated by important storylines for players and their brands. Below are the five most important sneaker stories from last night's hoops action.

LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers wasted LeBron James' triple-double against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2. Not only is the 38-year-old still dominating the league, but so are his sneakers.

James wore the Nike LeBron NXXT Gen, while his teammates, opponents, and peers from around the league wore the Nike LeBron 20. 'King James' still reigns supreme with his skills and footwear. Fans can shop James' entire sneaker collection on the Nike website.

Injuries

Two of his Nike Basketball's signature athletes were out due to injuries on Wednesday night. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokoumpo (back), and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant (hand) both missed their Game 2 appearances.

Morant still has reason to celebrate as his first signature shoe launched and quickly sold out yesterday. Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo used his off day to wear the Air Jordan 4 in the 'Pine Green' colorway, which was released last month.

Anthony Edwards

Despite its size, adidas struggles to compete in the NBA. Most of the brand's signature sneakers are forgettable and get heavily discounted a few weeks after their launch.

That could soon be changing with Anthony Edwards. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard continues to play in player-exclusive colorways of the adidas BYW Select, which is available online. However, Edwards seems well-positioned to be the next signature athlete (and hopefully saving grace) for adidas.

Jamal Murray

It is always gratifying to see a player overcome a serious injury. Last night, Jamal Murray led the Denver Nuggets to victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves with 41 points. It was eerily reminiscent of Murray's performances in the 2020 NBA Bubble.

Murray's performance in the Mile High City had to please many people in Boston. Murray is of New Balance's seven signature athletes and has worn the TWO WXY v3 in various colorways all season. Fans can buy the shoes on the New Balance website.

Nike Air Zoom G.T. Jump

Fans could be forgiven if they thought they were seeing double during last night's game between Minnesota and Denver. Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns and Nuggets center Nikola Jokic both wore the Nike Air Zoom G.T. Jump.

Towns went with a vaporwave colorway, while Jokic wore a white colorway. Fans can choose between three colorways of the brand's few high-top basketball shoes on the Nike website.
