Nikki Cross Reveals the Difficult Part of Her 'Unexpected' WWE Release

Nikki Storm, formerly known as Nikki Cross, has now opened up about her departure from WWE while looking forward to her next chapter. Storm spent roughly a decade with the company, signing with the company in April 2016.

She had a memorable run as a member of SAnitY, and she later transformed into Nikki A.S.H. She eventually reverted to her Nikki Cross persona before she joined the Wyatt Sicks where she took on the Abby the Witch character.

WWE ultimately released the group during a wave of cuts following WrestleMania 42. In a new interview, Storm shared her thoughts on the end of her time with WWE and commented on her future.

Nikki Storm says letting go of characters 'always difficult'

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Storm was asked about her departure from the company and about the surprising nature of her release. She agreed, calling it unexpected and saying that it was hard to say goodbye to all of the characters she played throughout her tenure.

"It was unexpected," Storm said. "For every character I’ve played. Whether it be Sanity, whether it be Nikki A.S.H., even Nikki Storm when I said goodbye to her in 2016 before I joined WWE, and Abby the Witch, I always feel attached to the characters, so it’s always difficult to say goodbye."

Storm then looked back on her time with WWE, highlighting how she had the opportunity to travel the world and make "amazing" friends. She reiterated that it was hard to say goodbye to " such a substantial, significant chapter" in her life and went on to emphasize that she was excited about the future.

"I’m so excited for my next chapter, and I’m so excited for what’s next for myself," Storm said. "And I can’t wait to go out to the world and go out to the galaxy."

After noting that she and her Wyatt Sicks stablemates shared a special experience, Storm said that she didn't want to be stuck in the past. With that in mind, she stated that she had a great 10 years in WWE, but she was looking forward to the next decade as well.

Storm has already returned to action, as she has competed for Over the Top Wrestling and PROGRESS. She and her husband, Big Damo, have also purchased PROGRESS and DEFY Wrestling. Clearly, Storm has hit the ground running since she left WWE, and fans will have to wait and see what she does next.
