Editor’s Note: Our Athlete of the Week feature and corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. However, we do not allow votes that are generated by script, macro or other automated means. Athletes that receive votes generated by script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified.

Here are the nominations:

Jacob Henderson, Boys Basketball, Capital Prep Harbor: Henderson went off in Capital Prep Harbor's 84-83 win over Broome Street Academy, scoring a game-high 42 points, 13 rebounds and six assists.

Xavier Goode, Boys Basketball, Fitch: Though Goode's performance came in a losing effort, it was one of the best of last week. The guard scored 33 points on 12-of-22 shooting.

Sam Clachko, Boys Basketball, Staples: The sophomore came up big in the Wreckers' 53-45 win over New Canaan, with Clachko scoring a team-high 22 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Fazal Khan, Boys Basketball, Weaver: Khan put up quite the stat line in last week's 75-57 win over Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, scoring 18 points and pulling down 18 rebounds.

Curtis Ellis, Boys Basketball, Crosby: It was a rout by Crosby last week in defeating Wolcott and Ellis led the way. The senior scored 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field.

Derrick Sheets, Boys Basketball, Manchester: Sheets had a big night in Manchester's 83-56 win over RHAM, with the junior scoring 22 points and connecting on four 3-pointers.

Tessa Porch, Girls Basketball, Middletown: The sophomore led the way in Middletown's 59-29 win over Plainville, scoring 21 points, grabbing six rebounds and notching four steals.

Bela Cucuta, Girls Basketball, Newington: No player on the girls basketball circuit had a night like Cucuta did on the floor. Cucuta scored 34 points, five rebounds, four steals in a 61-39 win over Rocky Hill.

Brooke Walker, Girls Basketball, Berlin: Though Walker is a freshman, she certainly isn't playing like one right now. The freshman in last week's 58-43 win over Bristol Central, scored 14 points, six steals and two assists.

Asihja Harris, Girls Basketball, Windham: The Whippets have had a solid season so far and Harris, a freshman, has heavily contributed to that. Harris in last week's 62-19 win over Griswold scored 12 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and nabbed six steals.
