Caleb Smith, Class LL (Connecticut) state champion QB, receives PWO from UConn

Smith was arguably one of the top quarterbacks out of New England in 2023

When you think of the New England region and high school quarterbacks fron the 2023 season, you can't go far without mentioning Connecticut's Caleb Smith.

Smith led Staples High School to the Class LL state championship this past season and local universities are beginning to take notice of the senior's dual-threat talent.

On Tuesday afternoon, Smith announced via X, formerly known as Twitter, that he received a preferred walk-on offer from UConn. Smith accounted for 47 total touchdowns for the Wreckers in 2023.

Smith has received plenty of praise from those up in the New England region, including that of ESPN personality Dan Orlovsky, who also formerly played in the National Football League (NFL). The quarterback also has offers from Bryant (PWO) and Marist.

The Staples senior signal caller had a season to remember for the 12-1 Wreckers en route to a state crown, with Smith completing 137-of-251 passes for 2,008 yards, 21 touchdowns through the air and on the ground, carrying the rock 222 times for 1,497 yards and 26 scores.
