Norcross weathered a slow, sloppy start Saturday and came up with big shots and rebounds from the Blue Devils' stars when they needed them most.
Jania Akins scored 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter — including back-to-back 3-pointers to finally give Norcross the lead — and Zaria Hurston was big on the glass all game to earn the Blue Devils the Class 7A girls basketball state championship with a 41-37 win over Harrison.
Hurston led Norcross with 15 points and 16 rebounds to help hold off a scrappy, undersized Harrison squad.
Alisha Foster paced the Hoyas — who led 17-12 at halftime and 23-19 at the end of three — with 14 points and seven rebounds.
