AJ Abram, Waukee boys swimming
Abram swam the opening leg of two state championship relay teams – the 200 free (1:23.17) and 400 free (3:05.75).
Andrew Austin, Central Lyon boys basketball
Austin, a senior, had 19 points and seven rebounds as the Lions, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, strolled past George-Little Rock 87-41. Austin was 9-for-10 from the field. Central Lyon, which finished the regular season 18-1, scored 80 or more points in four of its last five games.
Dallas Bear, Cedar Falls boys basketball
Augustana (S.D.) recruit Bear matched the entire Dubuque Wahlert team with 36 points in a 75-36 win. The 6-foot-8 Bear nailed eight 3-pointers in nine attempts, grabbed nine rebounds and had four steals.
Omaha Biliew, Waukee boys basketball
The Iowa State recruit hit for 31 points, leading the Warriors to a 73-66 victory over West Des Moines Valley. Biliew hit four 3-pointers and all seven of his free throw attempts in Waukee’s 19th win of the season.
MaKayla Boatman, North Polk girls basketball
Boatman nailed five 3-pointers and scored 26 points in the Comets’ 64-49 victory over Bondurant-Farrar.
Bailey Boeve, Hinton girls basketball
Boeve, just a freshman, had 22 points, 13 rebounds and three steals as the Blackhawks closed the regular season with their ninth straight win, 59-24, over Akron-Westfield.
Connor Borbeck, Pleasant Valley boys basketball
Borbeck scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter of a 56-45 win over Davenport Central. The senior contributed to his team’s 20-for-23 accuracy from the free throw line by making all five of his attempts in the final quarter.
Colby Collison, Bondurant-Farrar boys basketball
Collison scored 28 points and hauled down seven rebounds, leading the Class 3A top-ranked Bluejays to a 59-45 win over a good North Polk squad. Collison splashed four 3-pointers in six attempts.
Audi Crooks, Algona Garrigan girls basketball
In the final regular season game of her star-studded career, Crooks finished with 29 points, 19 points, five blocked shots and four steals. The defending Class 1A state champions beat two-time defending Class 2A state champ Dike-New Hartford 62-46.
Sam Davey, Waukee boys swimming
Davey was part of two state championship relay teams – the 200 free (1:23.17) and anchored the 400 free (3:05.75).
Ashlyn Davis, Westwood girls basketball
The sophomore had a double-double, scoring 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, in a 66-57 win over Woodbine. The Western Valley Conference champion Rebels finished the regular season 19-1.
Camden Davis, Hudson boys basketball
Davis became Hudson’s all-time leader in rebounds with a career total of 481, passing Bill Marsau (Class of 1995).
Koleson Evans, West Harrison boys basketball
The senior had 29 points and 12 rebounds in an 80-43 win over Woodbine. One night later, he charted 25 points and 12 boards in a victory over Council Bluffs St. Albert.
Alex Flattery, Sioux City East girls basketball
The junior posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Black Raiders downed Le Mars 57-44. Flattery also handed out four assists.
Payton Hagans, Mount Pleasant boys basketball
The junior charted a rare prep triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Panthers’ 67-35 win over Ottumwa. Mount Pleasant (17-3) has won 12 in a row.
Jacob Hargens, Sioux Central boys basketball
Hargens erupted for a school-record 53 points in a thrilling 91-85 overtime win over Newell-Fonda. The senior and Dordt University recruit was 18-for-26 from the field and 17-for-22 from the free throw line and also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and the Rebels remained unbeaten.
Desta Hoogendoorn, Central Lyon girls basketball
The junior had 15 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots in a 60-31 win over George-Little Rock. The Lions closed the regular season at 19-0.
Journey Houston, Davenport North girls basketball
The sophomore posted one of her team’s two double-doubles with 23 points and 12 rebounds in a 70-50 victory over Central DeWitt.
Whitney Jensen, Remsen St. Mary’s girls basketball
The Hawks, ranked No. 3 in Class 1A, ended the regular season at 20-1 after a 53-21 win over Trinity Christian. Jensen contributed 21 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
William Kiburis, Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball
The senior guard broke the school’s single-game scoring record with 46 points in an 84-64 victory over Dike-New Hartford. Kilburis was 17-for-26 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free throw line and added 12 rebounds and six assists.
Drew Kingery, Indianola boys basketball
The senior had 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, leading the Indians past Pella 79-68. Kingery, also an exceptional football player, is still deciding on which sport to pursue at the next level.
Denton Kingland, Lake Mills boys basketball
The senior tossed in 33 points, making four 3-pointers and 7 of 9 free throws, as the unbeaten Bulldogs clipped North Union 67-64.
Josef Lemker, Cedar Rapids Xavier boys basketball
The junior contributed 20 points, seven rebounds and two assists in the Saints’ 65-51 triumph over Cedar Rapids Prairie. Lemker missed just twice in nine shot attempts, hitting three 3-pointers.
Ava Locklear, Clear Creek-Amana girls basketball
The junior had 21 points, 13 rebounds and six assists for the Clippers in a 53-41 victory over Williamsburg.
Brady Martin, West Burlington boys basketball
The Falcons bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 76-46 win over Burlington to close the regular campaign. Martin, a junior, finished with 24 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Emma Martinek, West Fork girls basketball
Martinek, a senior, had 19 points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists in a 60-40 victory over Osage. The Warhawks won all 21 of their regular season games.
Kyla Mason, Cedar Rapids Xavier girls basketball
The senior made 15 of 16 shots and scored 31 points for the Saints in their final game of the regular season, a 65-49 win over Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Sophomore Libby Fandel had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Thomas Meyer, Clear Lake boys basketball
Meyer, a sophomore, just missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds as the Lions won their ninth straight, 59-42 over Humboldt. It also avenged Clear Lake’s only loss of the season.
Jack Miller, Jesup boys basketball
The junior guard scored a school-record 50 points in a 77-44 win over North Tama. Miller made 19 of 27 shots, including 8 of 13 from 3-point range.
Kaitlyn Mumm, Des Moines Christian girls basketball
The senior charted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Lions (18-3) closed the regular season with a 54-27 win over a 16-win Earlham squad.
Isaiah Naylor, Roland-Story boys basketball
The senior had 26 points and four assists, leading the Norsemen to their 10th straight win, 83-33 over West Marshall. Naylor was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Jacob Pins, West Des Moines Valley boys swimming
The junior won two state championships, swimming to titles in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:37.52 and 500 freestyle.
Ty Pflughaupt, North Linn boys basketball
Right on Grand View Christian’s heels in Class 1A are the second-ranked Lynx, who moved to 20-0 with a convincing 98-24 rout of Starmont. Pflughaupt, a junior, had 26 points (11 of 12 from the field), six rebounds and five steals.
Halli Poock, Waterloo West girls basketball
The Bradley University recruit scored 32 points as the Wahawks rolled past Western Dubuque 66-45. Poock added five rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
Elizabeth Puot, Des Moines North girls basketball
The senior had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Iowa Alliance-South champion Polar Bears in a 72-12 rout of Des Moines Hoover.
Aaliyah Riley, Johnston girls basketball
The Dragons, who have been atop SBLive’s ratings the entire season, wrapped up a 20-1 regular season with an 82-77 win over Southeast Polk. Riley, a junior, had 29 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Cooper Rogers, Waukee boys swimming
Rogers was part of two state championship relay teams – the 200 free (1:23.17) and 400 free (3:05.75).
Pryce Sandfort, Waukee Northwest boys basketball
Sandfort, an Iowa reruit, scored 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Wolves’ dominant 83-63 win over West Des Moines Dowling. The senior hit 12 of 18 shots, making 8 of 12 3-pointers.
Micah Schlaak, Cedar Rapids Kennedy boys basketball
The junior recorded a pair of double-doubles with 17 points and 13 rebounds agaisnt Iowa City West 55-48, followed by an 18-point, 10-board performance against Valley in a top four matchup on Saturday. Schlaak made a big baseline jumper, followed by a 3-pointer to break open a tie game in the final minutes against Valley.
Tatum Schmalbeck, Sioux Center girls basketball
Schmalbeck hit seven 3-pointers and scored 21 points in the Warriors’ 65-43 win over Boyden-Hull in a regular season finale.
Tevin Schultz, Dubuque Senior boys basketball
Senior traveled out of state to meet Madison (Wis.) East, coming away a 66-34 winner. Schultz, a freshman, made 7 of 8 shots and had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Carter Sievers, Newell-Fonda boys basketball
In the same game, a 91-85 overtime loss to Sioux Central, the senior finished with 38 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Sievers ranks seventh in the state in scoring and Hargens is second.
Haylee Stokes, Estherville-Lincoln Central girls basketball
Sophomore standout Stokes had 27 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and four assists as the Midgets wrapped up an unbeaten regular season with a 63-37 win over Pocahontas Area.
Lance Swanepoel, Ankeny boys swimming
The senior won back-to-back events at the boys state swim meet, taking the 50-yard freestyle in 20.33 and then winning the 100 butterfly, with a time of 46.89. Both times give Swanepoel automatic All-American status. He also swam on Ankeny’s runner-up 400 free relay, which timed out at 3:06.34. He was also named the IHSSCA Swimmer of the Year.
Clara Teigland, Treynor girls basketball
The senior registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Cardinals to a 59-25 victory over Underwood in a regular season finale. Teigland made four 3-pointers and dished out seven assists.
Daniel Tobiloba, Grand View Christian boys basketball
The Thunder, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, closed the regular season at 20-0 with a 59-50 victory over Aplington-Parkersburg (18-2). Tobilba, a 7-footer headed to Kennesaw State University, finished with 14 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Jesse Van Kalsbeek, MOC-Floyd Valley boys basketball
The Dutchmen (18-2) have lost only to Central Lyon. Van Kalsbeek tallied 21 points, six rebounds and five steals in an 85-56 win over Rock Valley.
Aliya Wagamon, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont girls basketball
The Rockets completed a 21-0 regular season with a 65-58 win over Martensdale-St. Marys. Wagamon, a junior, finished with 17 points on 8 of 10 shooting, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
Luke Winkel, Ankeny Centennial boys basketball
The junior threw in 31 points to go along with six rebounds and five steals as the Jaguars clipped Southeast Polk 64-61.
Ava Zediker, West Des Moines Dowling girls basketball
The streaking Maroons won their 12th straight game, 60-43 over Waukee Northwest. Sophomore Zediker hit 8 of 11 shots and scored a team-high 21 points to go along with three assists.
