Here are the small school girls basketball rankings for Jan. 19, as compiled by SBLive Sports reporter Tyler Cleveland.

SMALL SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL POWER RANKINGS

1. Belmont (19-1)

Last week: No. 1

The Cardinals handled business in a 59-36 home win over Nettleton, then escaped Amory with a 45-42 win to extend their latest winning streak to five games.

2. New Site (20-1)

Last week: No. 2

The Royals’ only loss this season came back in November to one of the state’s best teams, Tishomingo County. Kossuth is the only other team that has come within 10 points of beating New Site.

3. Pillow Academy (14-3)

Last week: No. 3

The Mustangs easily picked up wins over Washington and Central Hinds last week, winning by 32 and 36 points, respectively. Pillow will get Magnolia Heights on the road and Bayou Academy at home this week.

4. Jackson Prep (17-2)

Last week: No. 4

The Patriots have now won 12 in a row after beating Parklane Academy and MRA last week. They’ll travel to Copiah Academy Tuesday night before the showdown with Jackson Academy on Ridgewood Road Friday night.

5. West Lincoln (12-0)

Last week: No. 5

After a couple of close games against Loyd Star and Bogue Chitto to open region play, the Bears made quick work of Wesson and Enterprise last week, winning by an average of 48 points.

6. Leake Academy (21-2)

Last week: No. 6

The Rebels got a forfeit from East Rankin and picked up blowout wins over Winston Academy and Starkville Academy last week. Their winning streak is at 11 games with just five left to play on the regular-season schedule.

7. Jackson Academy (20-1)

Last week: No. 8

Jackson Academy laid waste to Presbyterian Christian and Parklane Academy last week, winning by 37 and 33 points, respectively. But this is the week the Raiders have been waiting for — with home games against both MRA and Jackson Prep.

8. Union (16-4)

Last week: No. 9

The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 last week with a 32-31 road win over Lake and a head-scratching 33-19 loss to Newton. They’ve got Lake at home this week, but first, they’ve got a date with Scott Central Tuesday night.

9. Senatobia (11-4)

Last week: No. 10

The Warriors hammered Byhalia 60-18 in their only action last week. They’ve won three-straight headed into back-to-back games against North Panola this week.

10. Independence (14-4)

Last week: Not Ranked

The Wildcats make their Small School Top 10 debut this week after beating Strayhorn 65-30 in their only game last week. The Wildcats have only lost one game to a Mississippi team since November.

Dropped out: Calhoun City (No. 7)
