We have 10 athletes nominated this week for SBLive’s South Carolina High School Athlete of the Week from Dec. 17-23 and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week’s poll.

Here are this week's nominations:

Jackson Stocker, Dutch Fork, Boys Wrestling

Stocker won at 113 pounds in the 2023 CSRA Rumble on the River. His win helped the Silver Foxes achieve a third-place finish in the team standings.

Makiah Thompson, Westwood, Girls Basketball

The 5-foot-5 senior guard scored 27 points in Westwood’s 60-54 loss to Josey (Ga.) in the Battle of I-20 championship game. That was well above her average of 14.8 points per game.

Braylhan Thomas, Gray Collegiate Academy, Boys Basketball

Thomas was named MVP of the Cayce Roundball Classic, which was won by the defending 2-A state champion War Eagles. The 6-foot-6 senior leads Gray Collegiate with 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Kaleb Evans, Lexington, Boys Basketball

Evans produced 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists as the Wildcats routed Charlotte (Fla.) in the City of Palms Classic.

Jordan Watford, Lancaster, Boys Basketball

The 6-foot-4 senior forward was named MVP as the Bruins won the National bracket of the Cayce Roundball Classic for the second year in a row. Watford dominated with 33 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists in the championship game.

Joyce Edwards, Camden, Girls Basketball

The South Carolina commit scored 33 points on 15-of-31 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat Paul VI (Va.) 61-30 in the third-place game of the United Bank Holiday Invitational. She also had 26 points in Camden’s semifinal loss and 15 points in their first-round win.

Terriana Gray, A.C. Flora, Girls Basketball

Gray scored 26 points in the Falcons’ 59-37 win over Spartanburg. The 5-foot-8 senior forward was 13-of-16 from the free throw line.

Justin Ray, Eastside, Boys Basketball

The 6-foot-3 senior, who has committed to Monmouth, scored 33 points as the Eagles beat Archbishop Shaw (La.) 65-57 to win the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic.

Karnello Jones, Cross, Boys Wrestling

Jones won the 177-pound class in the 2023 Hawk Invitational at Hanahan. He won by technical fall in the championship match.

Santana Mayes, Atlantic Collegiate Academy, Boys Basketball

Mayes scored 18 points by connecting on six 3-pointers as the Armada, a first-year program, routed previously undefeated Summerville 68-43.
