AUSTIN - Junior Ava Brown threw a complete-game, one-hitter to lead Montgomery Lake Creek over Georgetown 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Texas UIL Class 5A state softball championship game.

Brown, a Florida Gators commit, carried a perfect game into the fifth inning.

Brown's shot at only the third seven-inning perfect game in UIL state tournament history was denied when Georgetown sophomore Madison Hartley legged out an infield single on a ground ball hit to third. That was the only hit for Georgetown.

Brown also led the Lions' offensively with a single and a two-run double.

It marked the first state championship for Montgomery Lake Creek, which finished the season undefeated at 40-0.
