Angels News: Eduardo Escobar Officially Becomes American Citizen

He can now rejoin the team very soon!

Eduardo Escobar is one of the Los Angeles Angels' trade acquisitions that they hope will help propel the squad to their first playoff berth since 2014 in the midst of some weeks headlined by injuries. Escobar has been in the MLB since 2011 and spent the prime years of his career with the Minnesota Twins.

He is coming off 40 games this season with the New York Mets where he batted .236 and recorded an OPS of .695. It never hurts to add veterans to a squad that is looking to win more games and even though the Halos have leaned heavily on their prospects to take on big roles in 2023, the trade deadline is usually meant to bring in more polished guys .

Escobar already has two games under his belt with the Halos in which he's been able to get four hits and five runs. However, the 34-year-old infielder had to be placed on the restricted list recently as he took his citizenship test.

Escobar took to Twitter to share the results that he is now officially an American citizen.

"Today is a very special day for me after b nov ecoming an American citizen. I will always be grateful to this country where it has given me a lot in my career. I thank God for my family, my children, my parents, fans for always being with me in my good and bad moments,"

We are extremely happy to see Escobar achieve such a big milestone in his personal life. Our connection with the players runs much deeper than just what they do on the baseball field and it's amazing to see them thrive in all aspects of life.
