The Los Angeles Angels drafted Mike Trout in the 2009 draft with the 25th pick in the first round. Like any prospect, no matter how great they seem, will always be a risk because we never know. However, on July 8, 2011, there was no doubting Trout when he debuted in the big leagues. People knew he was here to stay, and he'll be a force to be reckoned with.

Fast forward 12 years later, and Trout is widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players, and some say he is the greatest to ever play the game. He's still dominating at 31 years old and believes he's still the best player in the game right now.

“The biggest thing is being out there, but when I’m out there, I feel like I’m the best player out there,” Trout said. “I’ve always had that confidence since I was a kid. I enjoy playing this game. It’s been fun.”

His teammate Shohei Ohtani might have something to say about that, but Trout continues to make his case. The three-time AL MVP is still elite, slashing .306/.468/.611 with a 1.079 OPS, along with three home runs and nine RBIs through ten games. Overall, the ten-time All-Star has a career 1.002 OPS and is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

The numbers indeed prove that, and there is no doubting his talent. At worst, Trout is a top-five player in the game today. The Angels have two of the best players in the league today, so whether you think one is better, it's an argument of one and two, regardless.
