Greatness recognizing greatness.

Angels fans have been very blessed to be able to watch two of baseball's greatest players over the last few seasons. Since Mike Trout burst onto the scene in 2012, he's been baseball's best player. And since Shohei Ohtani broke out in 2021, on his way to becoming the 19th unanimous MVP in MLB history, he's been baseball's best player.

Both players wear the Halo on their cap, and are working to get their team back to the postseason this year for the first time since 2014. And when Trout joined MLB Network's High Heat, he talked about how 'humbling' it is to play alongside Ohtani.

"Being able to witness him on a nightly basis is incredible," Trout said. "He deserves every accolade he gets. And he’s a great teammate, as well. It’s humbling to be able to play with a guy like that, and obviously get the front row seat in centerfield when he pitches. It’s pretty cool."

Trout has made it clear he wants Ohtani back in Angel red next season, but knows the team needs to win to be able to do that. But for this season, at least, Trout will get to go out everyday, knowing he's watching greatness every time Ohtani comes up to bat or takes the mound. Hopefully, this is a long season of baseball for Angels fans, that goes late into October for the first time in a while.
