Angels: Shohei Ohtani Could Make His First Start at Dodger Stadium This Year

Let the speculation begin.

As we finally push towards the end of the offseason, we can officially start looking ahead to the 2023 season. The Angels will be hoping to get back to the postseason for the first time since 2014 and, maybe more importantly, try to convince Shohei Ohtani to stay with their team long-term.

It feels like this season will be a year of courting, as every roadtrip the Angels take, cities and fanbases will do their best to prove that they're the right choice for Ohtani long-term.

And no roadtrip will be talked about more than when the Angels travel up the I-5 freeway to Los Angeles, to take on the Dodgers. All the talk will be about the potential pairing of Ohtani and the Dodgers, and Dodger fans are sure to give Ohtani a very warm welcome.

However, Ohtani may even get the chance to make a debut in that stadium, as he's never pitched at the famous Dodger Stadium before. MLB.com wrote about the possibility of that happening this season.

"Dodgers (Dodger Stadium)
Shohei Ohtani, as a pitcher (July 7-8),
Ohtani has, of course, played at Dodger Stadium as part of the Freeway Series, but he hasn’t yet pitched there."

Angels fans will hope that's one of the few times he pitches there, while Dodger fans will hope it's the first of many. But one thing is certain: that series is sure to be quite the center of rumors, especially as it's just a few weeks before the MLB's trade deadline.
