Former Angels Reliever Signs With NPB Team in Japan

The former Halo reliever is heading to Japan.

Former Los Angeles Angels reliever Kyle Keller has found a new home, which just happens to be overseas.

The New York Post's Jon Heyman has reported that Keller signed a deal with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball.

The 30-year-old pitcher was traded to the Angels in 2020 and only made two appearances. He was designated for assignment before the 2021 season.

Keller spent three seasons in the major leagues, one with the Angels. He posted an ERA of 7.71 in 2020. During the season, he allowed three hits, two earned runs, and had one strikeout in 2.1 innings.

His last MLB season came in 2021 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he made 32 appearances. He recorded a 6.48 ERA and had 36 strikeouts.

He has been with the Hanshin Tigers of the NPB for the past two years. Keller earned a new contract after posting a 1.71 ERA, 28 strikeouts, and a 1.44 WhIp in 27 appearances.

We are glad to see Keller doing well in the NPB and wish him all of the continued success.
