The New York Yankees are reportedly acquiring right-handed reliever Scott Effross from the Chicago Cubs. Effross, who's still retains his rookie status at age-28, has only 58 2/3 Major League innings to his name, but he's been wildly effective in his limited appearances.

For his career, he has an ERA of just 2.91 and a FIP of 2.47. A soft-tosser, Effross relies heavily on soft contact. The sidearm pitcher's fastball touches only 93 mph at it's maximum. But he has one of the league's highest chase rates and lowest xERA's at 2.21.

The Cubs' return for Effross is minor league pitcher Hayden Wesneski, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The right-hander was ranked the No. 7 prospect for the Yankees, according to MLB Pipeline.

This deal doesn't preclude the acquisition of more talent, but it's just one more improvement Houston will have to match should they wish to keep pace with the American League leaders.
