Michael Brantley was eligible to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, but the 35-year-old remains out. The outfielder has been on the shelf since June 27 with right shoulder discomfort which has limited swings until Tuesday.

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday on SportsTalk 790 Brantley will start swinging, hoping to have the left fielder back with Yordan Álvarez after the All-Star break

Brantley is slashing .288/.370/.416 on the year through 277 trips to the plate. The lefty has housed the two-hole most of the season while his absence has left more inconsistency from Baker's hand with the top of the order.

In lieu of Brantley's services, the Astros have granted more defensive innings to Álvarez, Aledmys Díaz, Chas McCormick, Mauricio Dubón and J.J. Matijevic in left field.
