Cubs Legend Joins Boston Red Sox Ownership Group

Former Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations is now joining the Boston Red Sox ownership group.

Theo Epstein has put World Series teams together in the past and the former Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations will have a chance to do the same. According to Jon Morosi, Epstein will be joining the Boston Red Sox FSG's ownership group.

Epstein has spent time with the Red Sox, holding a vice president and general manager role. He now returns to Boston in an ownership role and can help them get back to the team they were when he was the general manager and vice president.

Prior to this move, he was in the MLB Commissioner's office where he was a deciding factor in the recent rule changes.

No matter where he lands, Cubs fans will always appreciate him for helping put that 2016 team together. He was a big piece in helping the team win its first World Series since the 1908 season.

The Red Sox aren't in the best position heading into the 2024 season, at least from a roster standpoint. They didn't make any significant moves to a roster that finished 78-84 in the 2023 season, good for last place in the American League East.

To make matters worse, the Baltimore Orioles traded for Corbin Burnes, the New York Yankees landed Juan Soto in a massive deal, the Tampa Bay Rays always find ways to win, and the Toronto Blue Jays have made small moves to improve their team. The AL East is only getting better and Boston is getting left behind in terms of talent.

Perhaps one day Epstein can come back to Chicago and help them win another World Series.
