Blake Snell Rumors: Dodgers Potential Free Agent Target Sets His Asking Price-Tag

Could the Dodgers make a run at the reigning Cy Young winner?

While the Los Angeles Dodgers aren't likely to sign starting pitcher Blake Snell, you can't rule them out. Los Angeles went all-in this offseason in bringing in more talent, but teams can never have enough pitching.

This isn't the first time Snell has been talked about with the Dodgers. Multiple reporters have linked the two, with Los Angeles also being named as a sleeper team for the reigning Cy Young winner.

It's been reported that Snell is open to signing a short-term deal with opt-outs, which could be something that the Dodgers are open to. We now have a specific price tag on what Snell is looking for in a potential deal.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Snell is looking for at least two years for $60 million, which would include an opt-out after the 2024 season.

"The Houston Astros, who exchanged contract proposals this week for two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell, now appear to be long-shots to sign him. They have balked at Snell’s asking price of at least a two-year guarantee for $60 million, including an opt-out after the 2024 season."

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today

If the Dodgers can land Snell for a similar contract, they absolutely should. While their rotation is very strong, like anyone, they are a few injuries away from it being a problem again.

Snell could give Los Angeles another legitimate ace to work with, even if just for the year. The front office has put the team in a position to win a World Series already, so why stop here? Adding in a player like Snell would greatly improve their already high chances.
