Dave Roberts' Hopes Clayton Kershaw Returns to the Dodgers This Season

Dave Roberts would like to see Kershaw back.

Will Clayton Kershaw be back with the Dodgers this season?

There has been a lot of talk surrounding if Kershaw will return, but for now, Kershaw remains a free agent. However, plenty of Dodgers have talked about their hopes to see Kershaw back with the team this season.

Manager Dave Roberts is one of the latest to provide an update on where things stand with Kershaw.

"I talked to Clayton a few days ago, by way of text… We’re gonna keep in touch," Roberts said at Dodgers Fan Fest. “He’s always been a Dodger. That’s our hope as well.”

Along with Roberts' supporting a Kershaw return, general manager Brandon Gomes also said that the "door is open" for Kershaw to come back.

The 35-year-old Kershaw has spent his entire 15-year career with the Dodgers, putting up one of the most storied careers for them in recent memory. The former NL MVP and Triple Crown has made 10 All-Star appearances and helped lead the Dodgers to their most recent World Series title in 2020.

However, Kershaw is still recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent back in November. Even if the Dodgers don't bring back Kershaw before Spring Training or Opening Day, there's a strong possibility they could sign him again later in the regular season.

Hopefully, Kershaw and the Dodgers arrange a way back for him this season. With all Kershaw has done for the team in his career, it would be very strange to see him with another team or in a different jersey.
