Dodgers GM Believes in Gavin Lux Entering Crucial 2024 Season

Will Gavin Lux be the everyday shortstop this season?

Gavin Lux's knee buckled running to third base just over a year ago, and the Dodgers collectively held their breath.

After a lengthy rehab and recovery process, Lux is ready to be the everyday shortstop for the Dodgers in 2024. Los Angeles general manager Brandon Gomes believes the team is fully confident in his return to the field.

Lux had been waiting for his chance to take over at shortstop for Corey Seager, and in the blink of an eye, his 2023 season was over before it ever started.

He suffered a torn ACL and spent all of 2023 recovering from surgery.

The Dodgers used a platoon at shortstop last season, but Migues Rojas was there for the majority of the season. In 2022, Lux hit six home runs and had 42 RBIs over 129 games played.

He recently appeared on SportsNet LA and gave an update on his health.

“With the workouts and stuff, everything feels great. Taking ground balls, moving really well laterally, running bases,” Lux said. “I think I’ve pretty much checked off every box at this point.”

Lux mainly batted ninth in the order before his injury and would be a great option with his speed to turn the lineup over to the top in 2024.
