D-backs at Dodgers Lineups: March 10, 2024

The D-backs have only sent two of their expected opening day starting players to Glendale, Geraldo Perdomo and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.  Gurriel had a day off yesterday after getting hit on his left hand by a pitch on Friday.  Elvis Andrus is appearing in his first spring game for the D-backs, but is playing third base rather than shortstop.  Andrus has entered the backup infielder competition along with Jace Peterson, Emmanuel Rivera, and Blaze Alexander.  Alexander has emerged in spring training as a dynamic force both at the plate and in the field, but does not have any major league experience.

The Dodgers are featuring almost all of their projected opening day lineup. Mookie Betts, now playing shortstop "permanently" according to Dave Roberts leads off. The fearsome lineup features Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman batting right behind him.

One interesting footnote to this game comes via Bob Nightengale of the USA Today.
